What an incredible collaboration with Style Maya Fiji for the inaugural ‘Pink Escape – Fashion Meets Awareness’ event!
After six weeks of meticulous planning online, Cynthia Cebujano successfully hosted her very first fashion event, marking a significant milestone. I had the privilege of mentoring Cynthia three years ago through Volunteers Services Abroad, an organization funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Zealand. It was truly inspiring to witness her growth and passion over the years, knowing how far she has come. It was also wonderful to finally meet her in person after all this time, which made the experience even more special.
I also had the opportunity to run a comprehensive and interactive styling workshop, as well as a live-up styling fashion demonstration. The interactive nature of my segment allowed the audience to be actively involved, rather than just sitting back and watching a show. I aimed to educate them on the technical aspects of dressing—covering everything from choosing the right silhouettes and fabrics to understanding color coordination and accessorizing—empowering them with practical knowledge and confidence to style themselves better. I’m thrilled to say it was very well received. Many in the audience shared that they had never attended a fashion show where they learned how to dress for themselves, which was incredibly rewarding for me.
It was wonderful to connect with talented Fijian designers, models, and the diverse attendees who came out to support the cause. A huge thank you to all our partners, especially Fiji Cancer Society, Vish Beauty and Hampers, and Michael Mani Photography. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event—it’s only going to grow bigger and better.
